Troubleshooting
Discord Opens a Blank Channel After Setup?
If Discord turns blank or unusable during setup, this is usually a client-state issue — not a broken agent.
Fresh community report: users successfully install/connect, then Discord app shows a blank channel pane and setup stalls. This guide gives a 4-minute recovery flow.
Reality check: if Discord UI is blank, fix client state first. Agent config changes won’t help until Discord can render channels normally.
Fast diagnosis (90 seconds)
- Check if Discord works in browser (discord.com/app) while desktop app is blank.
- Try another server/channel. If all are blank, this is likely client cache/session corruption.
- Sign out and back in once. If still blank, continue to clean reset below.
Known-good recovery flow
- Fully quit Discord desktop (not just close window).
- Reopen Discord and run Ctrl/Cmd + R to hard refresh.
- If still blank, clear Discord cache (User Settings → Advanced → Clear Cache) and restart app.
- If still blank, sign out/in again, then disable VPN/proxy for one test.
- Test in browser. If browser works but desktop fails, desktop cache/session state is the issue.
- Reinstall desktop app (latest build), then re-test with a plain text message in a normal channel.
Avoid this trap: repeatedly reconnecting your bot while Discord UI is broken creates extra noise and can make troubleshooting harder. Stabilize Discord first, then retest bot behavior.
Copy/paste test prompt after recovery
I just fixed Discord UI state and need a clean test.
Do this exactly:
1) Confirm you can see this channel context.
2) Reply with: "Channel visibility test passed."
3) Do one tiny action only: summarize this message in 1 sentence.
4) If any step fails, tell me exact blocker text and stop.
If browser works but desktop still fails
- Use browser Discord temporarily to continue work.
- Keep one stable test channel for bot checks (avoid threads/forums while diagnosing).
- Capture one screenshot of blank desktop + one screenshot of working browser state for support.
Advanced edge cases (if basic reset didn't fix it)
- Hardware acceleration crash loop: If desktop goes blank repeatedly, disable Hardware Acceleration in Discord settings (or launch once with a clean profile) and retest.
- Security software / DNS filtering: Ad blockers, endpoint security tools, or DNS filters can partially block Discord assets and render blank panes. Run one clean test with these disabled.
- Network-path mismatch: If home Wi-Fi fails but mobile hotspot works, treat this as local network filtering/routing, not bot setup failure.
- Server-specific corruption: If only one server/channel is blank, check channel permissions + category sync and test a brand-new text channel in the same server.
- Email re-entry loop during setup: If reconnect flow keeps asking for email and then drops you into a blank pane, stop reconnect attempts, clear cache, and run one clean browser-based connect pass before returning to desktop.
When to escalate to #help
- Blank channel persists in both desktop and browser.
- Discord works again, but bot still fails the tiny canary test.
- Error appeared right after account/security/email re-auth changes.
- You can reproduce the issue on one network but not another (Wi-Fi vs hotspot).

Bottom line: blank Discord channels are usually client-state failures. Recover UI first, run one tiny canary test, then continue normal setup.
